Running 75 Baud (or rates other than 45 baud)
RTTY with WriteLog

Standard Amateur HF RTTY baud rate is 45 baud (actually 45.45 baud which is the same as 60 wpm). Most users (FSK or AFSK) will not have a problem transmitting baud rates other than 45 baud as long as these baud rates are supported by WriteLog. Baudot (RTTY) rates supported by WriteLog are 45, 50, 57 and 75 baud.
If you use a USB-to-serial adapter and "Software generated FSK" with WriteLog, you can ONLY transmit 45 baud because "Software generated FSK" only supports 45 baud (60 WPM). This is shown when you activate "Software generated FSK" from the Port menu in Rttyrite.

For AFSK users or FSK users than do not depend on "Software generated FSK", baud rates other than 45 baud can be achieved. As an example, this tutorial will show how to set up WriteLog for 75 baud RTTY. 75 baud RTTY is used in the BARTG Sprint 75.
Normally, baud rates can be changed within WriteLog simply by going to the Rttyrite Mode menu and changing the mode. If you use WriteLog's built-in "Soundboard FSK" or "Soundboard AFSK" decoder, the baud rate correctly changes to 75 baud when selected from Rttyrite's Mode menu. However, I found that when using the MMTTY plug-in for WriteLog, changing the mode to "75 baud (100 WPM) Baudot" does not directly work. The baud rate remains at 45 baud. In order to change from 45 to 75 baud when using the MMTTY plug-in for WriteLog, you must change the rate by going to the Option menu on the MMTTY RTTY Control Panel and selecting Setup...

If you are running MMTTY version 1.68A or later, in Setup, go to the Demodulator tab and uncheck 'Fixes 45.45 baud' as shown below. If you are running an earlier version of the MMTTY engine then skip this step and go to the next.

Now go to the Decode tab and use the BaudRate pull-down menu to select "75", then click OK. Once you select 75 and click OK, you will then be set to send and receive 75 baud. If for some reason this doesn't work, close the MMTTY window and reopen it and you should be set to 75 baud. Or change the TU type in Rttyrite and then go back to MMTTY and that should also set you to 75 baud (thanks Joe W4TV).

When you want to return to 45 baud RTTY, go back to the Decode tab of MMTTY Setup and select 45.45. If it doesn't work at first, try changing the mode in Rttyrite to "45 baud (60 WPM) Baudot)", then changing the Decode tab of MMTTY Setup to 45.45. Or close the MMTTY window and reopen it.
If you plan on participating in the BARTG Sprint 75, open WriteLog as you normally would and choose to "Start a new log..." and select BARTG Sprint as the module. The rules for BARTG Sprint and BARTG Sprint 75 are the same. The only difference is you will use 75 baud RTTY for the BARTG Sprint 75.
73 & hope to see you in the BARTG Sprint 75!
