More UDPSEND Comments
Leave UDPSEND running on PC "A" while you configure PC's "B" and "C".  UDPSEND on PC's "B" and "C" can be configured in two different ways (or more).  One way is to enter the IP address of PC "A" into the "Send to" box and not check the "Broadcast" box.  This will cause DX spots generated from within each WriteLog session to be sent to PC "A".  Or you could leave the "Send To" field blank and check "Broadcast".  Spots will be sent to all computers.  Spots received on PC "A"  will then be sent to the DX Packetcluster node(s) you are connected to. When the spot is returned by the DX Packet Cluster node, it will then be sent to all PC's on the LAN.  It's no big deal if spots are received twice.

It is important to note that "Broadcast" could actually be checked on PC's "B" and "C" but there would be redundancy.  Spots would still be distributed as described in the above paragraph.   The instructions given here are not written in stone for UDPSEND.  There are various scenarios that will work.  UDPSEND.EXE is a forgiving program.  You can set it in all different ways and it will still probably work. The instructions given here are proven.  You are encouraged to try other configurations.

Below are examples of UDPSEND on PC's "B" and "C" when using PC "A" IP in "Send To" box.
UDPSEND on PC "C"
You can test the sending of packet spots between PC's with the "Send test spot" button.  With UDP running on PC's "A", "B" and "C", send a test spot from "A".  You should see the spot show up in the UPDSEND window on "B" and "C".  Send a test spot from both "B" and "C" and they should show up on PC "A".  Send several test spots back and forth and confirm proper operation of UDPSEND.

While sending test spots back and forth, you may notice that spots generated from PC "A" show up in the PC "A" UDPSEND window as well as in the UDPSEND windows of PC's "B" & "C".  However, spots generated from PC's "B" and "C" only show up in the PC "A" window and not their own.  This is on design.  Remember that UDPSEND on PC "A" is set to "Broadcast", therefore any spot generated from PC "A" will show up in the PC "A" UDPSEND window.  Likewise, when you put everything together as described in the next set of instructions "Testing DXTelnet, UDPSEND & WriteLog" you will notice that spots received from the DX Packetcluster(s) you are connected to will show up twice in the UDPSEND window of PC "A".  This does not matter.  When running under contest set up, UDPSEND will be minimized and you won't even notice it.

You are now ready to test DXTelnet and UDPSEND together.  Click NEXT below for instructions on testing DXTelnet, UDPSEND & WriteLog together or BACK to return to the DXTelnet main page.
