SM6SRW Modules Installation Page
Updated 01/14/2007

Thanks to Jorgen, SM6SRW, there are several modules that can be added to WriteLog.  These are third party modules written by SM6SRW for WriteLog.  Most of the modules created by Jorgen are for RTTY contests, but not all of them.

The last update to these modules are located on the Downloads Page of this web site.  Here are instructions for installing these modules which are for the following contests -  Anatolian RTTY, A.R.I. International Contest, EA RTTY, FMRE (XE) RTTY, Russian RTTY, Scandinavian Activity Contest, SCC RTTY, SPDX Contest, SPDX RTTY, Ukrainian DX Contest, UBA DX Contest, SARTG New Years Day Contest (RTTY), A. Volta RTTY, SSA Manadstest, OK/OM DX Contest, WRTC Contest, and Russian PSK.

Please read these instructions in their entirety before installing!

1.  Download the latest zipped file WLCM_SM6SRW_040218.zip from the rttycontesting.com Downloads Page by clicking on the link provided.

2.  When the File Download dialog screen appears, you have the option of either opening the file (Open) or saving the file (Save).  If you want to keep a copy of the zipped file on your hard drive (not a bad idea), click the Save button and save the file somewhere on your hard drive where you will remember its location.  If you do not wish to save the file, click the Open button.  Remember, this is a 2 MB size file and depending on your Internet connection speed, may take a couple of minutes to download.

3.  Once the file is finished downloading, if you decided to Save the file, then you will need to Run the file WLCM_SM6SRW_040218.zip from its location on your hard drive.  If you chose to Open the file, your file extracting program such as WinZip, should open automatically.

4.  Once your file extracting file has opened, you have the option of either extracting the file WLCM_SM6SRW_040218.exe and saving it to your hard drive or running the program.  To run the program (in WinZip), simply double click on the icon in front of the file name.  If you decide to extract the file to your hard drive, you will have to Run the file from that location.  When you run the program you still receive the opening screen.

5.  Click Next and read the Release Notes if you are interested.  If you wish to read the Release Notes at a later time, you can simply highlight them, copy and paste them to Notepad or some other text editing program.  Click the Yes button.

6.  The next screen gives you the options of choosing which contest modules you wish to install.  By default all modules are checked and ready to be installed.  It is recommended that you install all the modules so you won't miss one that you might need.  It does not hurt to install modules you may never use.  Click Next.

7.  Here is where it could get tricky and this is important.  New installations of WriteLog before version 10.45 in January 2004 installed WriteLog in the C:\ham\programs directory on your hard drive.  Beginning with version 10.45 in January 2004, new installations of WriteLog are now installed in the C:\Program Files\WriteLog directory.  Since the SM6SRW module package was created prior to this installation change for WriteLog, all the SM6SRW module files will be extracted in the C:\ham\programs directory on your hard drive regardless of where your WriteLog program files exist on your hard drive.  If no C:\ham\programs directory exists on your hard drive, the SM6SRW installation program automatically creates this directory and places the module files there.  If your WriteLog program files already exist under C:\ham\programs, then all the SM6SRW module files will be installed in the correct location and no further action is required.

Once the files are installed in C:\ham\programs, click the Finish button.

IMPORTANT - In the event that you originally purchased WriteLog in January 2004 (version 10.45) or later and your WriteLog program files exist in C:\Program Files\WriteLog, then you will need to open Windows Explorer and locate the SM6SRW module files at C:\ham\programs and move all of them to the C:\Program Files\WriteLog\Programs directory.  You can do this by simply highlighting them and dragging them into C:\Program Files\WriteLog\Programs.  Once all the files have been placed in the same directory as the WriteLog program files, you can then simply delete the C:\ham\programs directory.

8.  This completes the installation of the SM6SRW contest modules.  At this time you should reboot your PC.  The next time you open WriteLog and choose to start a new contest, all the new SM6SRW contest modules will become available to you in the WriteLog Contest Selection screen.
